You will also be supported by National Clinical Leads, as well as a host of other Allied Health Professionals in the region, all working towards common goals.

Compensation: Generous Not-for-Profit Salary Packaging of up to $15,900 free income tax per year and up to $2,650 additional tax-free money to spend towards meals and entertainment.

What you’ll be doing

You will be supporting kindergarten educators in centre to build their capacity to support children in the 3-4 year old kindergarten programs. You will be supporting capacity building and learning in the key areas of communication (language development) wellbeing (social and emotional) and access and inclusion. Using evidence-based practices, what you do will benefit all children you work with.

You will work in collaboration with educators to create an environment for kindergarten aged children that promotes:

  • social and emotional wellbeing
  • communication
  • self-regulation and positive behaviours

Our Psychologists will be required to:

  • build the capability of educators and parents to support children through coaching, modelling, group training, case consultation support and other discipline specific services
  • provide allied health support to kindergartens and communities
  • liaise directly with Kindergartens, PSFO Officers, the EACH SRF Allied Health Team, the Child Development, Team Leader and other staff
  • provide outreach visits to kindergartens within the Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges areas

A typical day will involve providing 2 outreach visits to kindergartens that builds the capacity of educators. The purpose of these sessions will be to improve School Readiness outcomes for children.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualification in Psychology and current unrestricted registration with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current psychology assessment and therapy techniques with young children 
  • An endorsement in Educational and Developmental psychology will be highly regarded

Experience working with vulnerable and culturally diverse families is highly valued, as is an understanding of the issues confronting families with children with developmental delays and disabilities.
