The Role

This is a collaborative role, within a supportive environment. You will engage with key sectors within the community, providing young people in Canberra training and information on support pathways to quit smoking and vaping, and helping to support the next generation facing the challenges of tobacco and e-cigarettes.  

You’ll be involved in developing program content and program delivery. Specifically, and with support from the Prevention Team Leads, you will: 

  • Present education sessions to ACT secondary schools, sporting clubs and community organisations
  • Research and refine educational information to continually improve and enhance presentation content
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders including government, health, education, sporting clubs and local community organisations, together with the Cancer Council Federation

This role may involve some after hours or weekend work for which you will receive time in lieu.

Skills Required

You have qualifications or experience in community services, health promotion, education or similar.  You will be motivated to understand tobacco usage and control issues and ideally have experience in the delivery of health projects or be willing to learn.
  
Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills that promote effective partnerships are important in this role, as is the ability to work within a small cohesive team, with a willingness to multi-skill and support the overall objectives of the organisation.
  
A current driver’s license and Working with Vulnerable People check (or willingness to obtain) is required.
