About the role

  • Temporary full-time opportunity until 31st December 2024.
  • Location: Parramatta
  • Clerk Grade 7/8
  • Base salary: $106,025 pa to $117,363 p.a. plus super and annual leave loading.

 

 About the team

The Estate Management division makes financial and legal decisions for people who are unable to on their own, or with support, when NSW Trustee and Guardian is appointed as their financial manager by a court or tribunal. The team also oversees people who are appointed to privately manage the finances of another person. The division delivers high quality financial management service using a customer-centered approach and is delivered by: 

  • Customer Foundation – The Customer Foundation Team is responsible for the high-quality onboarding of new customers where a financial management order has been made. The team works with the customer, and important people in their life, to ensure NSW Trustee and Guardian has a detailed understanding of the customer’s priorities, ongoing needs, and financial situation, and makes financial decisions that support customers into the future.
  • Customer Independence and Support – The Customer Independence and Support Team works closely with customers in developing strategies to increase their capability to manage their finances and regain financial independence. The Customer Independence and Support team also finalizes matters where a customer is no longer subject to a Financial Management Order or is deceased.
  • Private Management – The Private Management team provides oversight and support to privately appointed financial managers (private managers) who are responsible for managing the financial and legal affairs of someone who is not able to make decisions on their own. The role of the Private Management team includes oversight of major decisions a Private Manager is proposing to make, review of annual accounts as well as advice and support to financial managers.
  • Proactive Customer Management – The Proactive Customer Management Team is responsible for complex and critical estates and engages with financial management customers, and their support network, when making financial decisions on their behalf, including the development and review of financial strategies and budgets.
  • Customer Specialist Centre – The Customer Specialist Centre is attached to the Proactive Customer Management Team and provides face-to-face intensive financial management, and other support services from a shopfront to some of NSW most vulnerable people.

 

About the role

This role is responsible for leading the Insurance Team and providing specialist advice, recommendations, and decisions for customers and key stakeholders to ensure the effective management and adequate insurance of customer’s properties. The role support customers and stakeholders in implementing solutions unique to their varying and complex needs. 

In this role, you will regularly monitor, analyse, interpret, and report on insurance risks to support good governance, compliance with relevant legislation and the development of risk mitigation strategies.  You will work with key staff and stakeholders to ensure that business processes are understood to support the smooth and efficient implementation of all change initiatives. 

Day-to-day responsibilities of this role include: 

  • deliver high quality, consistent and timely insurance and property services that align with NSW Trustee and Guardian’s Customer Excellence Principles for our diverse customer base.
  • make decisions and recommendations about property related matters within delegation.
  • oversee that the residential and commercial property portfolio is adequately insured.
  • drive a customer focused approach to meet customer expectations and business targets.
  • reviewing and approving property inspection recommendations for repairs and maintenance to ensure that insurance can be retained for customer-owned properties.
  • Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders to enable effective communication and timely decision-making concerning customer property matters.
  • Independently handling complex customer transactions and provide insurance advice, supervision and mentoring to their team. 

 

The successful candidate will be required to work full time in the Parramatta office until training is completed. Upon completion of training, the candidate will be able to access flexible work arrangements in line with operational requirements.

About you

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has experience and is passionate about supporting people with disability, vulnerable or older people.
  • Has strong stakeholder management and communication skills that are used to regularly engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and effective advice is provided concerning property and insurance related matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate, analyse, interpret and evaluate information and undertake research in relation to technical insurance related matters.
  • Well-developed liaison and communication skills and the ability to negotiate with clients or other interested parties.
  • Proven ability to meet challenging deadlines/timeframes, deliver advice and small to large, complex projects.
  • Proven ability to recognise, analyse and communicate issues, and recommend and implement successful solutions that lead to operational improvements.
  • Proven ability to identify training opportunities and develop and deliver education to stakeholders who have varying needs and levels of expertise.
  • Can maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, procedures, industry standards and guides to ensure compliance for all customer assets.
  • Is confident in managing plans that balance customer needs, commercial needs and community service objectives, risk management, legal and financial obligations. 

 

Essential requirements  

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in real property insurance.
  • Understanding of property risk management, underwriting requirements, claims and capacity to develop and implement plans for the management of real property insurance.
  • Understanding of NSW Trustee and Guardian’s key services and customer base including experience working with and/or supporting people with disability, who are vulnerable or older people.
  • Willingness to have phone calls and team email accounts monitored for quality assurance and training purposes, and to participate in one-to-one review sessions for calls and emails.
