About the Role

Working in a small team, the Senior Policy Officer reports to the Manager of policy, The Senior Policy Officer is responsible for supporting the team with research, analysis and the development of briefings and submissions that ensure the CEO and other Djirra senior executives are well equipped to advance Djirra strategic priorities in diverse settings and our policy responses relate specifically to Djirra strategic priorities.

Requirements

Essential

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community, particularly in relation to the impact of violence on Aboriginal women.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with diverse members of the Aboriginal community.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the development of policy and policy responses that affect Aboriginal women and children.
  • A Victorian Employees Working With Children’s Check card
  • Police Check

 

Desirable

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in law, public policy, social policy or similar is desirable.
  • Experience working in or alongside an Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisation (ACCO)
  • Drivers License
