Reporting to the Head of Fundraising and Philanthropy and leading a small team, the Philanthropy Lead plays a critical role in driving and leading strategy, relationship management and team leadership. You will develop and implement strategies to generate income with a key focus on major donors and trusts and foundations, along with involvement and oversight of gifts in wills. The Philanthropy Lead will build strong internal networks to proactively identify innovative initiatives within MacKillop that are likely to attract philanthropic interest and develop these into strong funding proposals and pitches.

Using moves management principles, you will lead key philanthropic relationships including the prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement and stewardship of philanthropic donors and prospects to maximise giving and retention levels. Continually reviewing, monitoring and reporting on financial performance, you will innovate fresh strategies to drive philanthropic revenue, enhance internal systems and processes and strive for continuous improvement. It will be important to inspire, motivate, mentor and lead the Philanthropy team to ensure high performance and champion the culture of philanthropy in the organisation.

About YOU

  • Experience in leading and implementing philanthropic strategies, with proven success in generating revenue through tailored fundraising initiatives.
  • Outstanding networking and relationship development skills, with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive growth and achieve challenging financial targets, through a sound understanding of internal
    programs and funding interests in the philanthropic sector.
  • Proven experience in prospecting, acquisition, retention, plus success in securing transformational and multi-year gifts.
  • People leadership experience with the ability to mentor, coach and lead a small team.
  • Innovative thinker, with a growth mindset and the ability to identify opportunities through a strategic and analytical approach.
  • Experience preparing and monitoring budgets against agreed targets, and reporting on financial progress.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills, with the confidence to present compelling pitches and curated asks.
  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline and demonstrated experience in a senior fundraising capacity.
  • Membership of the Fundraising Institute Australia and/or CFRE is desirable.
