ABOUT RAINBOW GIVING AUSTRALIA

Rainbow Giving Australia (RGA) is an ambitious national LGBTIQA+ community foundation that supports community-driven solutions by mobilising funding, growing skills, and expanding the knowledge base about the funding needs in the LGBTQIA+ sector.

RGA is centred around three core areas:

  1. Funding LGBTQIA+ organisations and projects: From small grassroots organisations to well established national not-for-profits, we fund organisations and projects that work to benefit LGBTQIA+ communities in Australia. We take an intersectional approach and fund many types of projects, from service delivery, to advocacy, to operational funding across multiple issue areas including health, housing, mental health, anti-discrimination, and anti-bullying, with the goal to strengthen the LGBTQIA+ community sector ecosystem. Some of our flagship funding programs include GiveOUT Day and our annual grants program (Amplify and Ignite).
  2. Advocacy and research: We produce evidence-based research into the forces preventing equality for LGBTQIA+ communities in Australia and opportunities to create change. This research is used to guide our funding decisions, increase our impact, and advocate externally for increased resources and capacity to the LGBTQIA+ community sector.

Capacity building: We work with LGBTQIA+ community organisations in Australia to build their skills and capacity to resource themselves. Almost half the LGBTQIA+ organisations in Australia survive off less than $10,000 a year. We provide centralised infrastructure and skills training to build the capacity of LGBTQIA+ organisations so they can increase their impact in the community.
