About the organisation
Who we are
We are a startup not-for-profit with charitable status and deductible-gift-recipient (DGR) endorsement, established on a national basis to help close the gap in support for victims of domestic violence across Australia.
We exist to serve all victims of family and domestic violence throughout Australia.
We operate on an ongoing basis to:
- provide 24/7 support and advocacy services, and support programmes, to victims of family and domestic violence;
- provide transport services to and from medical and other community services where necessary and practicable, to enable victims of family and domestic violence to access healthcare and additional community assistance;
- establish and operates community centres to provide programmes regarding family and domestic violence that aim to educate and improve public awareness;
- establish and operating virtual programmes regarding family and domestic violence that aim to educate and improve public awareness.

About the role
Overview of responsibilities:
- Management of the day-to-day financial operations such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Oversee key finance functions, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, fixed asset management, and compliance with statutory obligations such as FBT, BAS, and superannuation
- Oversee financial controls, maintaining consistent systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risk
- Deliver clear financial analysis, meaningful reporting, and thoughtful advice to help shape growth and performance
- Drive cost optimisation and enhance financial systems, identifying opportunities for operational efficiency across the organisation
- Setting and managing high standards of ethical behaviour and decision making
- Foster a high-performing finance team through coaching and development, ensuring the team’s readiness for current and future roles.
- Control and management the bank reconciliation process
- Preparation and posting of the month-end related journals as required directed
- Assisting in the preparation of timely and accurate month-end reconciliations
- Produce periodic reports of asset registers which may be included within the monthly reporting
- Provide financial and analytical support to the Finance Manager, Business Manager and CEO
- Support the Finance Manager and executives with projects and tasks when required
- Assistance with board processes including meetings, documentation and records
Key accountabilities
- Management of the organisation’s finances, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment
- Act as the Public Officer between the Company and the Australian Tax Office (ATO) and to take responsibility for the Company’s obligations under the Income Tax Assessment Act 1936
- Ensure compliance with not-for-profit financial guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Preparation and management of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, including statutory reporting, cashflow forecasting, and reconciliations to provide reliable financial insights
- Work closely with the Senior Leadership team, delivering financial analyses, reports, and forecasts to support informed decision-making
- Act as the primary source of technical accounting guidance and lead external audit processes
