About the organisation

Organisation Name : Rosies- Friends on the Street

Rosies is an organisation offering friendship and unconditional acceptance to people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or experiencing social isolation and loneliness. Guided by the Oblate spirit of daring and grounded in Gospel values, Rosies creates safe, welcoming spaces where people feel seen, heard and valued – whether through a warm drink, a meal, or a meaningful conversation.

Founded in 1987, Rosies now supports over 1650 volunteers across Queensland, reaching out nightly to those most in need. In 2024, Rosies expanded its impact through the HeartWorks Program, an innovative employment pathway initiative designed to provide sustained, supported employment opportunities for individuals doing it tough. It’s about more than just work – it's about connection, purpose, and dignity.

Rosies is a community where everyone matters – and where compassion is put into action.

About the role

OnTalent is proud to be partnering with Rosies – Friends on the Street to appoint an Employment Mentor to support the HeartWorks program, a dynamic initiative helping people experiencing disadvantage connect with meaningful and sustainable employment.

This full-time opportunity is a maternity leave backfill, with potential to extend or evolve depending on program needs and the successful candidate’s capability.

About the Program
The HeartWorks program is a community-led employment model that stands apart from traditional employment services. Built on relationships, dignity and practical support, it offers tailored mentoring and training, directly connecting participants with employers who share Rosies’ values of inclusion, compassion and social justice.

HeartWorks supports participants into employment and walks alongside them throughout their journey. The program is grounded in strong partnerships and deep trust with employers, community organisations and participants alike.

About the Role
As an Employment Mentor, you will work across the full employment lifecycle. You’ll identify participant goals and barriers, facilitate job-readiness training, support employers in creating the right environment for success, and provide regular post-placement follow-up.
The role includes:

  • Delivering one-on-one and group training to build job readiness
  • Supporting participants to overcome practical barriers such as transport, documentation and confidence
  • Building and maintaining relationships with referral partners and support services
  • Actively identifying and engaging with employers across a variety of industries
  • Ensuring alignment between employer needs and participant capacity, and supporting both throughout the placement
  • Providing post-placement mentoring, regular check-ins and issue resolution
  • Monitoring outcomes and contributing to reporting and ongoing program development

This is a varied, hands-on role that requires strong time management, initiative and follow-through. You’ll work across Murarrie, South Brisbane and the Gold Coast, regularly engaging with participants, employers and community partners. While no two days will look the same, you’ll have clear expectations and structured goals, with regular support from your manager to help you stay on track and deliver meaningful outcomes.

About You
You are someone who genuinely wants to see people thrive. Pragmatic, empathetic and solutions-focused, you are confident working independently as well as part of a team. You understand the importance of being reliable, organised and outcome-oriented, and you know how to adapt to the needs of people and situations around you.

You may come from a background in community services, employment support, training, social enterprise or similar. Perhaps you’ve worked in apprenticeship coordination, youth engagement or employment pathways. Or you may have gained relevant experience in a different setting, where you developed the people skills, resilience and initiative needed to support others through change.

What matters most is your ability to:

  • Bring a professional, participant-focused approach with the ability to connect
  • Balance empathy with accountability
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with both participants and employers
  • Take ownership of your responsibilities and drive outcomes
  • Spot opportunities and follow them through

A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel across sites is essential. A valid Working with Children Check and a recent police check will also be required.

This role offers genuine variety, purpose and the opportunity to make a visible impact. You’ll be part of a small, values-driven team that is passionate about inclusion, responsiveness and practical support. The work is fast-paced and meaningful, and you’ll carry real responsibility for supporting individuals on their employment journey. Your accountability in delivering strong, person-centred outcomes will directly contribute to helping people build more stable and hopeful futures.

This is an opportunity to step into a role that is hands-on, varied, and deeply rewarding. Whether you’re looking to grow your career or bring your existing skills to a purpose-driven environment, this is a chance to be part of a program that is already making a difference and has the potential to do so much more.
