About the organisation

Organisation Name : The Lady Musgrave Trust

With over 140 years’ service, The Lady Musgrave Trust stands as Queensland’s oldest charity supporting young women and children experiencing homelessness and domestic and family violence. Our mission is change: from crisis and disadvantage to independence and opportunity. Every year, we provide around 12,000 nights of safe accommodation across 15 properties in South East Queensland - delivered through trusted partnerships, philanthropy, and community generosity, not recurrent government funding. In 2025 we were named a Queensland Great (Institution) for our sustained impact.

About the role

The Operations Manager is at the centre of our organisational transformation. Reporting to the CEO, you’ll ensure operational continuity today while laying robust foundations for tomorrow’s growth. You will:

  • Oversee contracts and partnerships with expert providers, ensuring seamless tenancy and support for our clients.
  • Champion best-practice governance, compliance, and reporting across the Trust.
  • Lead the phased implementation of critical organisational systems (beginning with CRM, then HRIS, impact measurement and finance), supporting a planned expansion from 3 to 6+ staff.
  • Build, codify, and optimise operational processes and policies that empower excellence and enable sustainable growth.

Based in Brisbane (with flexible hybrid arrangements), this is a 20 hour/week part-time role. The natural evolution of this position is anticipated to be full-time Chief Operating Officer (COO) responsibility as the organisation grows. We warmly welcome applications from those seeking advancement and who wish to progress to COO in the medium term, as well as those who are experts in operational transformation and prefer to work part time – helping to establish strong foundations and then potentially transitioning the role to a new incumbent as strategic needs change.

ABOUT YOU

You are a practical, empathetic, and growth-minded operations leader, bringing:

  • Proven success in contract and partner management.
  • Hands-on track record implementing and optimising business systems (CRM, HR/payroll, reporting).
  • Governance and compliance experience, including Board/stakeholder reporting.
  • Financial acumen, including oversight of budgets and experience with external accounting/finance partners.
  • Strong, values-driven communication and problem-solving skills—comfortable working autonomously and collaboratively in a small team.
  • Experience in social services, housing, or the NFP/community sector is an advantage but not essential—heart and commitment matter most.

Above all, you’re inspired by the opportunity to help end homelessness for young Queensland women and their children.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • A purpose-driven role delivering genuine social impact and legacy.
  • Flexible, respectful and inclusive working conditions, including hybrid options.
  • Competitive salary linked to the SCHADS Award Level 7.3-8.1 (commensurate with experience), plus superannuation and salary packaging.
  • Opportunity to develop into a future COO role, or lay exceptional foundations for the next leader.

How to apply

Please send:

  1. A Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing your relevant experience.
  2. A short Candidate Statement (no more than 2 pages) describing your motivation and how you meet the role requirements.
  3. Contact details of at least two referees (these will not be contacted without your permission).
