About the role
Philanthropy Australia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced relationship and community engagement professional to join our growing team as Engagement Lead – Queensland & Northern Territory.
This is a pivotal role supporting the philanthropic community across QLD and NT — nurturing relationships, coordinating member services, and helping deliver inspiring events and programs. Working closely with the Senior Director, Engagement (QLD/NT), you’ll help connect members, partners and the broader sector to grow giving and impact across the region. The Engagement Lead (QLD/NT) is responsible for building and strengthening relationships with Philanthropy Australia’s members and partners across Queensland and the Northern Territory.
With 2026 marking our 50th anniversary and first-ever national conference in Brisbane, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to an exciting new chapter in Australian philanthropy.
This role is part of the national Membership & Engagement team and focuses on supporting members to connect, learn, and increase their impact through philanthropy. It combines relationship management, administration, and event coordination, and plays an integral part in delivering both regional and national engagement initiatives.
You’ll represent Philanthropy Australia externally, provide outstanding member support, and help deliver the highly regarded PA Member Events Program, while contributing to membership growth and retention.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Member Engagement
- Collaborate with the Senior Director, Engagement QLD/NT and National Engagement team to deliver and administer PA’s membership services.
- Build and manage relationships and day-to-day communications with members, articulating membership value.
- Coordinate and administer member programs, services and payments with Membership & Engagement, Programs & Practice, and Operations & Finance teams.
- Represent PA externally, promoting engagement, learning and sector networking.
- Maintain accurate member information and records inSalesforce and integrated platforms; manage inbound enquiries.
- Support planning, coordination and delivery of PA’s member events to a professional standard.
Membership Development
- Support business development to grow membership and contribute to prospecting, acquisition and renewal strategies.
- Develop and implement opportunities that deepen member connection and collaboration.
- Support and monitor renewals and lead-generation, focusing on retention, satisfaction and continuous improvement.
Program Support
- Lead special/discrete projects as assigned by the Senior Director, Engagement QLD/NT.
- Provide project support for the Brisbane-hosted PA Conference in 2026.
- Deputise for the Senior Director of Engagement as required.
- Undertake other duties as needed to ensure effective delivery of membership programs and processes.
Professional Practice
- Maintain effective links with stakeholder organisations across the philanthropic sector.
- Participate fully in PA’s corporate life, including interstate and after-hours stakeholder events as required (some travel/out-of-hours work expected for national programs).
- Abide by PA’s Code of Conduct and demonstrate PA values in all activities and interactions.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, Social Impact or Social Sciences.
- Good knowledge of philanthropy and/or the NFP sector, including trends and relevant stakeholders.
- Experience in a foundation/fundraising role working with philanthropists and decision-makers, or in relationship management with HNW individuals (highly regarded).
- Strong administration and interpersonal skills; ability to build trust and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent stakeholder management across staff, partners and other stakeholders.
- A genuine passion for philanthropy and its role in a stronger, fairer, more sustainable Australia.
- The ability to proactively foster strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills including planning, meeting timelines, stakeholder management and delivering on outcomes.
- Highly developed written and oral communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Strong digital literacy including the ability to use technology platforms to report/interpret data strategically.
- Proficient in Salesforce or other CRM.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a dynamic workload and juggle competing demands.
- A motivated self-starter who is able to work effectively as part of a small national team.
