About the role
Night Watch extends the capabilities of the Mobile Outreach and Youth Street Teams services to operate 7 nights per week. Night Watch consists of 2 qualified and experienced Salvation Army workers, along with a team of trained volunteers who are based at 69 Bourke Street, Melbourne, from 11pm-7am, as well as being mobile in Melbourne CBD. The teams pro-actively engage with people on the streets, as well responding to calls from Police, Emergency Services and the general public to provide a timely response for a range of inquiries. The teams assist those experiencing homelessness, those who are alcohol and/or drug affected and those that are underage and needing support, by providing transport to a safe place, accommodation assistance and access to a wide range of support services.
Position: Night Watch volunteer position
Role: Work within a team to pro-actively engage with and offer both support and referrals for a range of people, including those experiencing homelessness, those who are alcohol and/or drug affected and underage young people needing support.
