About the role

The Board of Management provides the purpose, leadership direction, and strategy for the organisation. In addition to this, they ensure the organisation’s finances are sound and that our operations meet compliance requirements.

As a Board Member you will contribute to the governance and leadership of LEAD Loddon Murray
and will actively promote our interests actively in the broader community in accordance with our Governance and Code of Conduct Policy, Strategic Plan, and Business Plan.

The main responsibilities include setting the strategic direction for LEAD Loddon Murray defining
and developing robust policies to support the strategic direction, ensuring full compliance with
legislative requirements, monitoring the effectiveness of our programs and activities, and providing
accountability mechanisms.

Meetings take place once every six weeks (Board Members are expected to attend all of these meetings where possible). It is also desirable that Board Members attend key events including the Launch, AGM, and Graduation Evenings where possible and positively advocate for the program at all times.

LEAD Loddon Murray is a not-for-profit incorporated association with tax concession charity status governed by a Board of Management comprising six LMCLP graduates and four independent community members – 10 Board Members in total. Employed and contracted staff, along with graduates, effectively deliver three main streams of activity designed to increase community leadership capacity across the Loddon Murray region:

  • We Develop Leaders: By partnering with individuals within the community to develop their
    leadership roles (includes the Loddon Murray Community Leadership Program)
  • We Create Capacity: By empowering our community and enhancing their skills and knowledge
    (includes our Graduate Program and Community Enterprise)
  • We Facilitate Conversations: By initiating conversations that count, as well as working on
    behalf of others to manage important discussions (includes our regional leadership network
    and advocacy role)
