About the role
We are on the hunt for a passionate and motivated young leader to join Empowered Together’s administration and governance team.
Empowered Together is a non-for-profit organisation that works towards the peer led primary prevention of sexual violence. Our vision is a world where sexual integrity is respected, sexual violence is taken seriously and those who have experienced sexual violence receive the support they need to heal.
We are youth run and seek to engage this generation to lead the change. Our two main operations include running workshops on consent and sexual assault in secondary schools and engaging the wider community through our online platforms.
Key Responsibility
To work with the CEO and executive team to manage Empowered Together’s risk and legal compliance.
Duties
* Review Empowered Together’s policies, ensuring they are in line with current laws
* Revise Workshop Contracts when required
* Research into legal changes in sexual assault, consent, child protection
and other relevant topics
* Produce Legal memorandums at the CEO’s request on a range of laws
which may impact Empowered Together
* Deliver mandatory sexual violence training when onboarding new
volunteers
* Work closely with the executive team to provide strategic advice as the organisation grows
* Help maintain Empowered Together’s compliance checklist.
* Take the role of the organisation’s secretary during governance meetings
(e.g. AGM, SGM etc).
Skills required
We are looking for someone who:
* Is deeply passionate about the primary prevention of sexual assault
* Is currently studying (second year or above) or has completed a degree in
law (legal experience itself is not required) or equivalent knowledge
* Is motivated, independent and can complete projects with minimal
supervision
* Has excellent oral and written communication skills
* Is diligent, self-motivated and organised
* Works well both independently and within a team
Additional Requirements
The successful applicant will need to have a volunteer Working with Children’s Check or be willing to obtain one.
Time Commitment
3 hours a week, the work is highly flexible and done within your own time.
The successful applicant will be expected to commit to the role for a minimum of 12 months
