Chief Operating Officer in Dubbo (Ethiopia)

St. Mary Catholic Primary Hospital in Dubbo, Ethiopia, is a 100-bed non-profit primary hospital located approximately 300 kms south of the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The hospital runs general medical, surgical, paediatric and maternity departments, as well as a 24-hour Emergency Room. It is owned by the Soddo Vicariate of the Ethiopian Catholic Church (ECC), and fully managed by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSC).

The hospital is currently undergoing some restructuring, and the recruitment of a volunteer Chief Operating Officer (COO) is essential to this ongoing development. Reporting to the CEO, and a member of the senior management team, the COO will be responsible for the leadership and development of the financial and administrative departments. They will also coach and build capacity among local admin and human resource management staff.

The professional development, coaching and skill transfer the volunteer will provide to local staff over their one to two year placement will help strengthen the hospital’s ability to self-govern. This will eventually allow the role to be taken over by local staff.
