About the Role
International ballerina, educator and cultural entrepreneur Tanya Pearson OAM founded the Sydney City Ballet in 1971. It was a natural and much-needed extension to her classical ballet academy and to the needs of hundreds of young, emerging ballet artists.
Based in Sydney, the Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy is recognised nationally and overseas as one of Australia’s leading ballet education institutions for over 40 years. The Academy has been responsible for the careers of scores of nationally and internationally acclaimed ballet stars and for the development of next generation audiences and lovers of ballet throughout the country.
Both the Academy and the Sydney City Ballet have a rich and impressive legacy. In the last 5 years Tanya Pearson OAM while remaining the Founding Director has instigated a succession plan for the future. Under the executive leadership of Nicole Sharp and the artistic direction of Lucinda Dunn OAM, the Academy has entered a new phase of its evolution and has embarked on the reinvigoration of the Sydney City Ballet to meet the artistic and theatrical aspirations of the 21st Century and the global ballet world.
