FSG Digital Buddies

FSG Australia are running a pilot program called FSG Digital Buddies commencing soon. This great program will connect volunteers with a young person who may be experiencing a range of things in their life such as;

• Social isolation
• Bullying
• Education disconnection
• Loneliness and depression
• disability

The Buddy volunteer will provide a reassuring ear to connect to a young person, someone to listen to so they feel heard, and a friendly face to help them to feel connected and provide a sense of companionship.

Buddies/ volunteers will need to have access to their own device to connect with, and will utilise the services of Skype or a similar app to connect. FSG will of course assist in the set up, and will advise on the best possible access, and app to utilise, while also advising on personal security and how we can connect you as a volunteer while also securing your private information and personal pages.

We are offering some training next week for volunteers who are interested in helping us with the pilot, and we would love to have some more Buddies!

Connection even once or twice a week can mean the world of difference to someone who is isolated, and all from the comfort of your own home while kicking back on the sofa!

Volunteering is also a great advantage in seeking work, and looks great on your resume, so you get all the good feelings in one great volunteer role!
