About the role
The Port Environment Centre (PEC), Port Adelaide is seeking a Hon Treasurer to join our Management Committee, someone with finance and/or accounting skills who has a passion for the environment.
The Port Environment Centre is a community driven organisation and ‘gathering place’ that supports the community in living sustainably, valuing, caring for, learning about and enjoying the experience of the natural coastal, marine and estuarine environment.
The Centre, while it opened in March 2019, has recently incorporated after initially been auspiced by KESAB.
The Centre is principally funded by Green Adelaide and has a budget of approx $100k, which covers the costs of a p/t Coordinator, insurance, outgoings etc. The Centre attracts additional specific purpose grants and earns some revenue from events.
The Centre is one of ten Environment/Natural Resources Centres in the Adelaide region. PEC operates within a strong network of local environmental organisations and has collaborative relationships with them and other stakeholders.
The Centre is contracting a local accounting company and will mange its accounts using Xero.
