About the role

The Northern Community Legal Centre Inc (NCLC) provides generalist legal services and community legal education to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Melbourne’s north west and advocates for equal access to justice for all.

NCLC provides advice, casework, and community legal education to priority client groups, including victims of family violence, refugees and the newly arrived, people diagnosed with a mental illness, young people aged 25 and under, and victims of elder abuse. Our main office is in Broadmeadows, and we assist clients at a range of outreach locations across the Moreland and Hume City Council areas.

NCLC welcome applications from family lawyers admitted to practice to volunteer at our Night Service Program held in Coburg on Tuesday evenings and provide advice in relation to parenting, property, and divorce matters.

The Night Service Program offers community members with an opportunity to meet with a lawyer out of business hours. It also offers our volunteer lawyers the opportunity to gain public practice experience.

All volunteers are asked to commit a minimum of one Tuesday night each month for a period of six months.
