Who we are
The Conservation Council of South Australia (SA) Inc (Conservation SA) is the peak non-government environment body for South Australia, representing over 50 of the State’s environment organisations.
We exist to blaze a path to a brighter environmental future for South Australia.
As a community-powered organisation we stand for South Australia’s environment when it’s under threat, help our member groups and other nature champions, and create and tell stories about better ways for people and nature to thrive.
We provide value to our member groups by leading and enabling the charge to a sustainable future, building the long term capacity, health and resilience of the sector, acting as an effective advocate and growing the community of South Australians who care about nature.
Background
We seek a President to help guide the organisation through its next phase.
The role requires energy, commitment and a belief in the core values and aims of the organisation. Knowledge and experience of governance principles are a requirement but less so than an ability to lead strategic change in a rapidly changing environment. Leadership experience within the not for profit sector and strong connections into government and/or the South Australian business community would be extremely valuable. A collaborative approach is essential.
The President convenes the formal governance structures of the organisation, including the Executive Committee and the Council. Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing leadership for the organisation – ensuring the organisational vision and mission is relevant and articulated clearly to members, staff and supporters.
