About the role
The role will be focused on assisting in the development of a strategic plan for the Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council that will assist drive the direction of the organisation over the next 5 years. The plan will seek to provide structure and direction across the key business areas of advocacy, environmental and cultural management, housing and fundraising.
The Land Council operates across 4 Local Government Areas which include Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Wingecarribee. Our mandate is to provide opportunities and services particularly as they relate to land and culture to all Aboriginal people within our boundary.
As part of our governance requirements the Land Council is required to produce a Community, Land and Business Plan, essentially a business plan for the organisation. We are seeking an individual or individuals that have the skills and experience to assist in the development of this plan at a time when the Council anticipating significant impacts due to external legislative changes. Ideally you will be able to research the changing environmental factors and assist in the interpretation of the expected changes and incorporate this into a document that will be able to be used by our members, Government agencies, funding bodies and contributors to understand the direction the Land Council is heading over the next 5 years and why this is important for the growth and social and economic development of the communities that we service.
Over the next 12 months we anticipate significant change to our operating environment and this role and the strategic plan that is developed will be critical in the success of progressing the economic and social position of Aboriginal people within our region.
The person we require will need to be self directed with a strong understanding of strategic planning processes and capable of facilitating and articulating the objectives of the organisation in a concise and accessible document.
