UGANDA | Volunteer Accountant @NGO Safeguarding Children |1 month

Our partner is a Ugandan NGO working to safeguard and provide for vulnerable children and their families living in urban slums. They are seeking the assistance of a Pro Bono Accountant to provide vital training and support to their Bookkeeper.

The organisation provide support through education, health and livelihoods initiatives, with a focus on helping children with disabilities. Their child sponsorship scheme assists some with boarding school, holiday programmes and skills training. They also provide specialist assistance and education to children with disabilities, offering special needs teachers, physiotherapy, medical care and a support group for parents.

Your Role

You will be the second AfID volunteer to support this organisation. You will be reviewing their progress and providing further training and support to their Bookkeeper. The first AfID volunteer has also recommended the next placement include support with forecasting and improving processes and policies around exchange rates.

This voluntary assignment is a unique opportunity to significantly contribute to the support and development of local staff face to face. For a newly qualified accountant, you’ll gain invaluable practical experience to bring to future employers, whilst also having a lasting impact on the organisation you are supporting.
