About the organisation
About the role
The Visitor Services & Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Museum’s volunteer program, including recruitment, training, induction, and reward and recognition. The position also has substantive responsibility for coordinating the Museum’s Visitor Services team, which includes admissions/shop assistants, gallery assistants and guides, spending a significant portion of their working hours at front-of-house supervising and supporting the team. As part of the Visitor Services function, the position coordinates the Museum’s retail operations, and also serves as Sunday Supervisor.
Because volunteers are integral to the day-to-day running of the Museum, an important aspect of the Visitor Services & Volunteer Coordinator’s role is to liaise between staff and volunteers, and to ensure a regular two-way flow of information. Further, because volunteers are one of the Museum’s important stakeholder groups, the position meets regularly with the Director & CEO to provide updates on volunteer activities and issues.
