About the role

  • Lead the charge in mental health advocacy and media relations
  • Forge strategic partnerships to amplify QAMH's voice and impact
  • Full time or Part time role

Queensland Alliance for Mental Health (QAMH) is the peak body for the Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Sector in Queensland representing more than 120 organisations and stakeholders involved in the delivery of community mental health services across the state. At a national level, QAMH collaborates with Community Mental Health Australia and works alongside members to build capacity and to advocate on their behalf on issues that impact their operations and people who access their services. QAMH is an independent not-for-profit organisation.

We are partnering with QAMH to find a Director of Advocacy and Media Relations to champion their vision in the mental health and wellbeing sector. This role, reporting directly to the CEO and within the executive team, is crucial for amplifying their voice and influence across Queensland. You’ll lead QAMH’s efforts in shaping public opinion and policy, forging strategic partnerships, and driving their advocacy campaigns to new heights. Your role involves a dynamic blend of strategic communication, media engagement, and stakeholder relations to advance their mission.

The ideal candidate will bring a robust blend of strategic insight, media savvy, and advocacy prowess, underpinned by an understanding of the mental health landscape. We value leadership experience, particularly in crafting and executing advocacy strategies that resonate on a broad scale. Your track record will demonstrate impact on policy and public perception. Tertiary qualifications in relevant fields such as journalism, media, public relations, or a related discipline are highly regarded, alongside a passion for making a difference in mental health and the well-being of communities.

If you are ready to bring these skills to this meaningful leadership role, we encourage you to apply with a tailored 1 to 2-page cover letter, that articulates your interest and skills alignment along with a detailed resume.

Applications close: Sunday 12 May 2024.

Confidential enquiries regarding this opportunity can be made to Suzanne Grant or Taylah Knight on 07 3305 5800.
