Council on the Ageing Victoria (COTA) is the peak body representing the wide-ranging needs and interests of older people in the Victorian community. COTA Victoria’s mission is to mobilise older people and those who work with them, to age well in a just society. COTA has been the voice of older Victorians for over 65 years. While individual issues may have changed over that time, the determination and commitment of the organisation to ensure that the voices of older Victorians are heard has not. Seniors Rights Victoria, a specialist statewide elder abuse service, provides information, legal and non-legal advocacy support, advice and casework, education and policy leadership, to help prevent elder abuse and safeguard the rights, dignity and independence of older people. Seniors Rights Victoria provides leadership across Victoria by addressing and responding to older people experiencing abuse.

About the role

COMMUNICATIONS AND MEDIA ADVISOR

COTA is the leading agency supporting the voice of older people, and Seniors Rights Victoria is the lead service tackling elder abuse, in Victoria.

In this exiting role you will drive important social justice changes challenging ageism and abuse and promote the rights of older people.

You will:
• develop, implement and drive the media and communications strategy
• use communications and media to empower and inform
• uphold us as a preeminent source of expertise and informed commentary
• promote the targeted production of information in different forms and different media

This is a 0.6 EFT position. Salary range is $67,697.76 – $73,077.16 per annum. Tax-free salary packaging up to $15,900 is also available.
