It’s truly an exciting time to join us at Sydney Youth Orchestras (SYO).
We are looking for someone special to nurture our much-valued donors and introduce new supporters to our donor group.

You will be self-motivated, lateral thinking and passionate about the opportunity to build a thriving donor program that supports the future of classical music in Australia.

As part of our growth we have launched new signature events which have already proved successful and will provide a springboard to deepen relations with potential and existing donors.
We don’t expect results overnight but there are set KPIs that we need to reach; we will support you in doing this with our new Development CRM, Web and Digital infrastructure.
At SYO we see donor development as a key pillar in securing our financial future and are looking for non-traditional ways of engaging with our supporter base; we have a great database, extensive networks, alumni and families – many of whom would love to more fully support youth education and excellence in classical music.
We are not concerned about where you come from – it doesn’t need to be from an arts organisation – but we need to be excited about where you will lead us.
These are the skills and attributes we are looking for:
- Experience in Major gifts
- Experience in Donor Appeals
- FIA member ideally, but not essential
- A love of and interest in classical music
- A desire to impact the lives of young people
- Excellent communications skills and a confident manner. Ideally you are a person who is comfortable talking with a generous donor one day, an alumni from our program the next, and a parent of a current student at an event.
- You are definitely more a listener than a talker and will enjoy spending time getting to know who our donors really are – learning their interests, finding out what is important to them and helping them achieve their philanthropic goals.
