Exciting opportunity for an adventurous accountant (CPA or equivalent) to gain unique international experience & build the financial management capacity of this inspiring human rights NGO in PERU. (4-6 week volunteer placement, accommodation provided, fluent Spanish required)
Based in Peru’s ancient capital, Lima, our partner is a human rights organization dedicated to defending and promoting the rights of indigenous communities in the Amazon and the Andean regions, children affected by various forms of violence and trafficking and families affected by the internal armed conflict.
They are seeking a volunteer to review their accounting systems and provide training support to the local team at their farm in Huánuco. The income from the farm is reinvested in the women’s shelter, which provides support to girls and women who were victims of sexual violence.
Your Role
As the second volunteer accountant you will be undertaking an assessment of their current systems processes and controls and making & implementing recommendations for best practice. Responsibilities will include:
- Visiting establishments in the city that sell similar products to review and update the farm’s business plan
- Projecting farm income for up to three years and the investment needed
- Developing a work plan with priority activities for the first year and economic proposals of the highest priority
- Providing training to the administrator to improve accountability
This broad and wide-ranging assignment is a great opportunity for accountants thinking about a career move to the international development sector to get an extensive insight in just a couple of weeks.
