About the organisation

Organisation Name : Housing for the Aged Action Group

Housing for the Aged Action Group (HAAG), is an organisation of older renters in Victoria across all rental housing types including private rental, public, community and social managed housing, caravan and residential parks, rooming houses, independent living units, and a range of new model older persons’ housing including rental villages, semi-independent living units and supported residential accommodation.

HAAG’s philosophy is that older people should have access to safe, secure and affordable housing. We also advocate that, based on their wealth of life experiences, older tenants have a right to be involved in the development of ideas, plans and decisions about their housing.

About the role

Are you passionate about solutions to the housing crisis?  Do you want to be part of systemic change?

Join our National homelessness prevention project and continue this exciting and innovative work.

The National Development Worker is responsible for implementing the final stage of the Ageing on the Edge – Older Persons Homelessness Prevention Project.  The Project aims to address the rapidly growing problem of older people at risk of homelessness in Australia using an early intervention and prevention framework that focuses on achieving long term sustainable housing outcomes.

We are looking for a self-motivated, professional and highly organized individual to continue our Ageing on the Edge Older Person’s Homelessness Prevention project.  We are seeking candidates from a range of backgrounds – from communications to project management and are keen to hear from people with law, business, communications, social sciences, management or other suitable disciplines.  You will need to be prepared for lots of interstate travel.  Experience in working with not-for-profit community organisations is an advantage.

We are four years into the five year project, and are hoping to extend this project, subject to successful funding.
