Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute is an independent, internationally renowned medical research facility. Our work extends from the laboratory to wide-scale community studies with a focus on diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

About the role
We seek an experienced Philanthropic Support Officer to join our Community & Corporate Relations team.

The Philanthropic Support Officer works in the field of fundraising with a scope of interest including administration, prospect research and profiling and fundraising support such as drafting proposals, drafting grant applications and event management.

Community and Corporate Relations (CCR) core objective is to support the Institute achieve its mission by raising funds for recruitment and development of researchers, innovative research projects, equipment, infrastructure, capital expansion and capacity building. Our secondary objective is to raise the awareness of Baker IDI and the work we do in the community, in order to achieve our fundraising objective.

Philanthropic & Corporate Partnerships builds sustained and meaningful relationships with high net worth individuals, trusts and foundations and corporate organisations in order to achieve major funding for the Institute. The area also involves cause-related marketing and business development activities. This position sits within the Philanthropic & Corporate Partnerships team, working in the field of fundraising with scope of interest including administration, event management and prospect research and profiling.

Duties
In this role you will be expected to:

  • Compile prospect and donor profiles utilising the WealthInsight database and update prospect and donor opportunities and meeting notes utilising the Salesforce 360 database
  • Provide event support for major gift and industry events for current and prospective major donors including arranging venue, catering, mailing lists, invitations, running sheets and other event logistics
  • In conjunction with major gift staff, draft professional quality donor stewardship reports and proposals for major donors
  • Based on research and knowledge of the database, provide advice for moves management to the GM, Philanthropic & Corporate Partnerships
  • Provide advice on prospect research and profiles of mid-value and high-value donors

 

Skills and Experience
You will have:

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with Salesforce 360 database and/or WealthInsight database would be beneficial
  • Experience in prospect research, fundraising, grant writing, event management or administration would be beneficial
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Experience in a broadly focussed specialist position; or
  • A degree or higher relevant qualification, with relevant work experience; or
