About the organisation

Organisation Name : Eastern Community Legal Centre
Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC) has been working with individuals and communities for over 40 years to resolve legal problems and improve legal responses. ECLC makes legal assistance available to those in the community who would not otherwise have access to a lawyer, whilst prioritising services and programs to people and communities experiencing disadvantage.

About the role

Established through funding from a Victoria Legal Aid, CLC Innovation & Transformation Grant, the Enhanced Entry Project seeks to develop and implement a superior system of holistic legal help to priority client groups, including:

– Children and young people
– People experiencing or at risk of family violence
– Indigenous Australians
– Older people
– People who experience language or cultural barriers and other disadvantage
– People experiencing or at risk of homelessness
– People with a disability or mental illness

As a key member of the legal practice, the Enhanced Entry and Intake Co-ordinator will work alongside lawyers, project and other intake personnel as part of a specialist program within the broader legal practice. The Co-ordinator must have experience in complex case management, advocacy or alike, and the ability to demonstrate a positive, creative and collaborative approach to delivering support services within a legal context.

The Co-ordinator will deliver two key objectives of the Enhanced Entry Project:

1. To develop, document, implement and review a Centre-wide Triage Framework; and
2. To develop and pilot an Enhanced Intake Service with high priority clients with complex issues.

Skills Required
You will be tertiary qualified in Health/Social Sciences/Law, and/or have extensive experience in the community/welfare sector. You will be a compassionate person who respects people, their circumstances and decisions. You will be able to effectively manage tasks and deadlines while maintaining a high degree of self-awareness, resilience and professionalism. Specifically, you will have:

– excellent interpersonal and communication skills
– experience in project co-ordination and partnership development
– experience delivering culturally safe services
– experience working with vulnerable client groups with complex needs

This position is part-time (3 days per week) based at ECLC’s Box Hill location for a fixed, 12-month period.

Attractive remuneration will be negotiated with the successful applicant based on qualifications, skills and experience.
