Philanthropy Manager at Australian Chamber Orchestra

Experienced Philanthropy Manager sought for Australia’s most dynamic international performing arts organisation.

To be successful in this role, you will be a confident, articulate individual with good knowledge of Australia’s philanthropic landscape and the Performing Arts industry, and an appreciation of classical music.

The ACO’s Philanthropy Department is a vibrant, busy and successful team of three, who reach significant targets through a blend of philanthropic programs and large-scale fundraising events.

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Philanthropy Manager plays a vital role in the team.

About the role

The Philanthropy Manager is responsible for:

• Managing the ACO’s annual Mid-Year Donations Campaign and Subscriptions Campaign;
• Developing and implementing a new digital giving strategy;
• Researching and identifying new Patrons for the ACO;
• Ensuring that Patrons are updated regularly about projects funded through the ACO’s donations and fundraising programs; and
• Developing, cultivating and successfully managing relationships with current and new Trusts and Foundations.

Skills and Knowledge

• Ideally at least 3-5 years’ experience in the delivery of fundraising programs;
• A strong understanding of Australia’s philanthropic landscape, including the tax implications of donations and grants;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Excellent persuasive writing skills;
• Excellent communications skills with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levels;
• Superior organisation skills;
• The ability to manage strategic thinking and attention to detail concurrently;
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy work environment; and
• Tessitura experience highly regarded.

Attitudes

• Confident, curious, articulate manner;
• Ability to work effectively in a team; and
• An understanding of the Performing Arts industry and an appreciation of classical music (no formal music training or knowledge required).

• Experienced fundraiser with proven track record of cultivating donors and building philanthropic funds
• Excellent interpersonal skills First rate communication skills
• A proven ‘doer’ with a strong focus on execution within small, agile teams
• Genuine love of the arts
• IT skills to enable effective use of CRM, Office and other programs when necessary
