The Australian Stock Horse Society (ASHS) is a Membership based, Not for Profit organisation and has an aim to preserve and promote the bloodlines of the iconic Australian Stock Horse. The Society is Australia's largest equine recreational and pleasure association, with more than 9,300 Members and in excess of 190,00 registered horses in the Stud Book.

About the role

This is a diverse and challenging role with good career possibilities, and is critical to the ongoing success of the Society.
The role leads a dedicated team of two people with the ultimate goal of delivering rigorous financial management and adherence to sound accounting practices. The role is permanent full time with an attractive base salary plus superannuation.
The role reports directly to the General Manager and key responsibilities include:
Manage, supervise and provide guidance to Finance and Administration staff.
Prepare appropriate financial reports and operating statements and ensure the organisation meets all statutory obligations, including taxation, insurance, superannuation and finance commitments.
Prepare annual budgets in conjunction with the General Manager and Leadership Team.
Manage and maintain staff payroll and ASHS merchandise.
Manage and prepare financial documentation for end of year audit process.
Manage the day to day operational and organisational activities.
Ideally the Successful Applicant should have the following strengths, either gained through qualifications of experience:
Proven Team Leader.
Demonstrated experience and achievement in a similar financial management position.
Highly developed knowledge of accounting and proficiency in the use of PC software and financial systems.
An efficient approach to work with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments.
Well developed communication, interpersonal and advocacy skills.
Understanding of statutory obligations including WHS, EEO and other relevant legislative requirements.
Completion of a relevant Accounting Diploma/Degree is desired.
