The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) is a registered national charity dedicated to raising language, literacy and numeracy standards in Australia. ALNF raises funds to develop, implement and sustain six ground-breaking programs with tangible results, supporting and up-skilling thousands of adults and children across the nation.

ALNF’s programs equip educators, parents and community members with the knowledge and resources required to maximise language and literacy learning opportunities and capacity of children and youth. ALNF is seeking a confident Project Manager to manage all aspect of project dynamics.

About the role

The Project Manager role will suit an applicant with aptitude in organisation, systems/processes, timetabling, independent thinking, problem solving, flexibility, written and verbal communication, and strong team participation. 

The Project Manager will work closely with ALNF’s executive management team, other ALNF team members and key stakeholders to ensure that ALNF’s programs, resources and on the ground teams are efficiently managed. 

Candidates must relate to the particular challenges faced by disadvantaged Australians, be passionate about their work and committed to creating change.

Project Manager Suite of Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

The Project Manager works closely with the ALNF’s executive management, communications and project teams to ensure that project outcomes and objectives for all six ALNF programs are being met and accurately communicated with all relevant stakeholders.

The Project Manager:

  • Supports project implementation across the six ALNF programs including, but not restricted to, project planning, delivery, logistics, data collection, growth and reporting.
  • Ensures all reporting and evaluation requirements are adhered to and communicated to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Collates and analyses qualitative and quantitative data for internal and external communications and reporting purposes.
  • Supports the executive management team to oversee all ALNF program activities in order to evaluate and monitor impact and sustainability.
  • Monitors ALNF regulatory requirements (e.g. with Australian Skills Quality Authority) to ensure ALNF is complying with project-related obligations.

 

This role may involve some travel to project sites to support data collection for evaluation and/or reporting purposes.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Respond to ALNF program-related public requests for information via email and telephone.
  • Oversee the Administration Assistant’s management of the project delivery team’s calendars, travel arrangements and reminders.
  • Manage the project-related delivery and logistics in a timely manner in conjunction with the Administration Assistant and project delivery staff.
  • Manage project-related communication with external agencies, such as ALNF’s Registered Training Organisation (RTO), in conjunction with the Administration Assistant.
  • Maintain accurate records of all project-related travel, resource distribution and training.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Reporting and Evaluation

  • Work in conjunction with the executive management, project delivery and communication teams (including the Grants Manager), to ensure all funding and project agreements, including acquittal requirements, are adhered to. This includes ensuring each individual project’s key performance indicators, outcomes and objectives are accurately reported against and these results are communicated in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Support the executive management and communication teams to develop and maintain relationships with funding bodies and other key stakeholders, including providing information to be included in regular updates and reports on all projects.
  • Work in conjunction with the project delivery teams to ensure all data collection processes are adhered to, so that results accurately reflect each project’s activity and include all information required by funders.
  • Collate and analyse data collected from each project site, and develop reports for internal and external purposes.

 

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience working in project management or similar occupation;
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple projects;
  • Demonstrated experience in team participation, problem solving and independent thinking;
  • Strong management skills with the ability to manage relationships effectively;
  • Strong multitasking skills managing project elements simultaneously with the ability to be flexible and responsive to change;
  • Strong communication skills across a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Techniques to manage change in project scope, schedule and costs;
  • Ability to measure and manage project performance, data and progress using appropriate systems, tools and techniques;
  • Excellent data organisation and display skills;
  • Strong computing/technology skills;
  • Ability to design and implement risk management plans;
  • Strong general organisational and time management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a small team; and
  • Current NSW Driver’s License

 

Desirable

  • Experience working on projects involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, new arrival communities or regional/remote communities; and
  • Experience and skills in the education and training sector.

This is a full-time position based in Sydney, with some travel to project sites in NSW, QLD, SA, VIC and NT.

This role requires a NSW Working with Children Check and a National Police Check, or willingness to obtain these documents.
