The Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to stop the harm caused by alcohol. Alcohol harm in Australia is significant. Nearly 6000 lives are lost every year and more than 157,000 people hospitalised, making alcohol one of our nation’s greatest preventive health challenges.
For over fifteen years, FARE has been working with communities, governments, health professionals and police across the country to stop alcohol harm by supporting world-leading research, raising public awareness and advocating for changes to alcohol policy.
About the role
FARE is seeking a Director of Development and Philanthropy to take on a leadership role, working closely with a variety of key stakeholders, senior staff and Board members to support the growth of philanthropic giving to FARE. Your primary responsibility will be to generate and nurture partnerships and to manage and grow FARE’s portfolio of support from annual giving, major donors, bequests, capital campaigns, fundraising events, and trusts and foundation gifts to ensure all philanthropic financial targets are being met. You will develop strong grant applications, funding proposals and provide ongoing and regular reporting to funders, FARE’s management and Board. You will manage and work collaboratively with an enthusiastic team committed to supporting FARE’s vision.
This position will suit someone with experience working in fundraising in a growth-orientated organisation, with strong knowledge of the philanthropic sector and funding opportunities, a demonstrated ability to raise and grow a philanthropic revenue streams, knowledge of not-for-profit sectors in Australia and a large donor network. You will have proven experience in major gift fundraising, building and managing positive high-level relationships, including the ability to inspire supporters and to maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders. You will have demonstrated experience in developing and managing a budget, donor pipelines and regular reporting to senior management.
This role can be based in Melbourne or Canberra.
