About the organisation
Financial Capability Australia (FinCA) is the working name for a new not-for–profit body which will fund, support and evaluate initiatives to improve the financial literacy and capability of Australian consumers and to engage in relevant research.
The establishment of FinCA was recently announced by the Commonwealth Minister for Revenue and Financial Services. Principal funding of FinCA will be provided by Community Benefit Payments arising from Enforceable Undertakings agreed between the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and financial institutions; and donations raised by the organisation. FinCA is an independent body, with the CEO reporting to an independent Board of directors. The intention is that FinCA will incorporate the existing business of Financial Literacy Australia Limited.

The successful candidate will have the following key skills, experience and capabilities:
• Successful experience in a senior leadership role
• A strong commitment to improving financial literacy and capability
• Ability to develop and implement a strategic plan directed at addressing FinCA’s mission
• Marketing the role of FinCA to key stakeholders, including the not-for-profit and financial sectors, governments and financial regulators and building community awareness and understanding
• Leadership skills including an ability to motivate, mentor and coach employees and service providers
• Track record in managing and oversight of projects (desirably, grants and research)
• Experience in reporting to a board, including implementing a suitable governance system and oversight of financial systems, cashflow and reporting
