About the organisation

Organisation Name : Social Ventures Australia (SVA)

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a social purpose organisation that works with partners to improve the lives of people in need in Australia by helping businesses, governments and philanthropists to be more effective funders and social purpose organisations to be more effective at delivering services. SVA’s Impact Investing team provides socially-oriented organisations with a combination of capital and support to help them achieve social impact.

Social procurement targets and policies are becoming more embedded in many government and corporate organisations.  This is generating significant new business opportunities for social enterprises with appropriate scale and capability. Growing the size and capability of social enterprises that have the opportunity to benefit from social procurement is critical to the growth of the sector and to the success of social procurement – and the generation of jobs for disadvantaged people.

SVA has received philanthropic funding from Equity Trustees (on behalf of the Alfred Edmonds Trust) to work intensively with a small number of social enterprises to help them win and deliver significant social procurement contracts (>$1M). As part of this initiative, SVA will provide a range of tailored support to social enterprises, including business planning, financial modelling, bid support, financial structuring, capital raising and advisory services and contract negotiation support.
