About the organisation

Organisation Name : Windsor Group

About the role

Inspirational, collaborative leader to channel existing energies, ideas & engagement and develop new sources of sustainable income.

  • Need high credibility/reputation in mental health/community sectors
  • Inner southside Brisbane with advocacy and leadership functions nationwide
  • Competitive package will be negotiated.

This one-of-a-kind, community-based, national self-help organisation was founded in Australia over 60 years ago.

With 180+ peer support groups throughout Australia and currently headquartered in Brisbane’s inner south, this organisation has helped thousands of Australians recover from mental illness through its unique program of mutual support and personal development.

The program is based on the first-hand experiences of people with mental illness and has continued to develop since its inception over 60 years ago. Today, this resolute non-profit still offers opportunities to people with mental health issues to come together in an environment of friendship and peer support so that they recover and maintain good mental health.

Although it has continued to develop quietly and steadily, recent changes to the ways in which non-profits derive income, means this independent enterprise is now faced with a need to deliver its unique program through a variety of channels.

So, the search is on for a very experienced, lateral-thinking, collaborative leader to come and offer real leadership to get the team fired up and bubbling with ideas and enthusiasm.

We’re not looking for an authoritarian but for someone to look at what exists, pull up the proverbial sleeves and work with everybody involved. Together, you will winkle out the fresh ideas that will lead to innovative (maybe unexpected) ways of delivering our program and new sources of sustainable income.

To succeed in this role, you will need a strong presence in the community and/or mental health sectors plus an excellent reputation for being intuitive, confident, practical, responsive and compassionate.

Strategically sound, financially skilled and operationally steady, you are well equipped to evaluate the business, bring everyone enthusiastically on board and lead the dynamic ‘push’ that helps take it to its new level of strength and sustainability.

Visionary and confident, a proven advocate with wonderful communication skills and a calm affable nature, you bring the requisite experience, empathy and judgment to work productively with staff and volunteers who may themselves have a lived experience of mental illness.

It’s expected you are well networked in government, with funding partners and other allied service providers; have significant background in consumer informed services and are an influential speaker with a passion for helping individuals grow through their barriers to a better life.

This is a challenging role, guaranteed to ignite the imagination, vigour and enthusiasm of a professional community leader who would thrive on leading programs that actually change lives for so many people with mental health issues.
