Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation is a large and complex regional community development organisation providing services to homelands in the Maningrida region. Our mission is to improve the lifestyle of people on homelands by caring for country, and preserving language and culture through the delivery of services to improve housing, health, education and roads. We administer some 50 grants and manage a suite of businesses and programmes, including the Community Development Programme (CDP).

About the role:
This varied role will see you support and advance the region’s employment and cultural objectives. The right candidate will have the ability to influence key stakeholders, participate and represent the interests of BAC at National Advisory Committees, and lead their team to ensure that the community’s employment objectives are met.
On a typical day, this role will involve:
- Setting the strategic direction for the Community Development Programme
- Using a project management approach to drive the implementation, monitoring and reporting of programmes
- Writing high level reports to assist with securing ongoing funding
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the community
- Leading, developing, supporting and motivating the teams and individuals to deliver best outcomes
About you:
With a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Community Development Programme role, you will thrive in a diverse, challenging yet highly rewarding environment.
You will also have
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Significant executive level experience with programme delivery in employment services
- A passion for working in a community-based role
- Experience with operational budgets and funding agreements
- Drive, passion and motivation to see your team succeed
- Experience living in a Remote Community would be ideal
- Strong cross-cultural awareness, good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively is essential
- Current Drivers Licence, OCHRE Card and First Aid Certificate are required
