The Difference Incubator (TDi) is a Melbourne based organisation that exists to support individuals and enterprises to both ‘do good and make money’. We work both in Australian and the Asia Pacific across a wide variety of clients - non-profit, social enterprises, government and large corporations.

Our work is varied, fluid and innovative, but always tied to our aim of building a more sustainable future for all. Over the past 7 years we’ve worked with over 400+ mission-driven enterprises to build financially sustainable business models that create measurable and intended impact for good. We do all of this through consulting, tailored programs, workshops and accelerators that link to what we believe are the 4 key building blocks of any purpose-driven enterprise – mission, model, management and measurement.

About the role

Tenure: Ongoing

Time Fraction: 3 days per week

Location: Melbourne

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Start Date: ASAP

 

Purpose of the position:

This position has been created to continue to grow our engagement and reach and ultimately support our business goals. At the same time, we want to keep building up the social innovation community by sharing our learnings throughout the sector, and contributing to thought leadership.

 

Responsibilities/Role:

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager, This role will execute, and monitor audience-specific marketing strategies, processes, and campaigns. A key part of this role is crafting content that helps to inspire and demonstrate thought leadership to our three main audiences.

This is a relatively new position, and as such this role will require an individual who is passionate, adaptable, and resourceful. We’ve developed a 12 month communications strategy, so in the beginning your role will be to execute on this strategy and then measure, evaluate and rework it.

We are excited to watch this role develop and help us grow and develop in the coming years.

Among other things you will:

  • Be tasked with identifying content/stories, and sourcing them from the team
  • Write social media posts and blogs that communicate to our three key audiences
  • Manage and monitor all social media activity
  • Track our communications campaigns and goals
  • Working with external agencies and contractors when necessary to drive elements of our strategy
  • events assistance
  • podcast and video management
  • brand management – ensuring the brand story is consistent and on point
  • PR coordination – maintaining relationships and pitching stories for publication
  • sponsorship opportunities for our events
  • Website content
  • Customer list segmentation and management
  • Reviewing marketing metrics and reporting monthly (Google Analytics, Social Media, Mail Chimp, other channels as per strategy) Recommending changes, ideas to improve.
  • Write reports, research, applications and other copy to support the team as needed

 

What your day to day will look like:

We are a small, but agile and ambitious organisation, and often are reactive with our communications to capitalise on what is currently happening in the space.

Each week you will need to look after our various accounts and platforms. You will need to be able to wrangle the staff and push the team to get things done. We are a busy organisation. You will need to be a savvy communicator to get your job done.

You will also need to be a strong advocate for the importance and need for communications in our organisation and will need to influence our team to contribute and support TDi’s communications for deeper impact in the work that we do and greater success in building the more just and sustainable future. 

 

Who you are:

You are ‘a do-er’, you are passionate about business as a vehicle for doing good in the world, and you have great written and verbal communication skills. 

Social media to you is like air, and you write like a pro:

  • You can come up with audience-perfect titles in a heartbeat
  • You are just as comfortable writing an Instagram post as you are with thought leadership blog post on the importance of ethical business
  • You can catch a typo from a mile away

You’ve got the skills to execute:

  • You know Mailchimp like the back of your hand
  • You feel comfortable designing your own graphics and social media posts using Canva, or other free design software
  • You’ve had 3+ years’ experience executing communications strategies

You’re curious and innovative

  • You pick up on new ideas and can interpret them into the content strategy
  • You can experiment, test and refine to improve results
  • You find new ways to connect to our audiences

You can be our brand voice, ensuring that we present an authentic and consistent voice and image in all of our communications.

You’re ready to commit to an organisation and help us build it.
