About the organisation

Organisation Name : Médecins Sans Frontières Australia

Médecins Sans Frontières Australia (MSF-A) is a major independent international medical humanitarian non-profit organisation in Australia and the region. Globally, it is a key contributor to the international MSF movement, whose core mission is to deliver medical aid to people facing emergencies, natural disasters, conflict, and exclusion from healthcare. Established in 1995, MSF-A is one of 24 associations in the MSF movement and has grown significantly in recent years, both in terms of audience reach and income generation. MSF-A’s analysis and advocacy around key humanitarian crises which affect the patients we treat and communities we work with, our efforts to influence the discussion around humanitarian aid, and our work to generate income and support for our medical humanitarian programs are all drivers of our strategy today and into the future.

About the role

The Community Engagement Coordinator oversees the representation of MSF at public events in Australia and New Zealand. The role coordinates speaker requests for events like medical and academic conferences, as well as training and supporting speakers for our donor and recruitment events.

The Community Engagement Coordinator manages many external relationships and understands community interests and the opportunities these present. The successful candidate will lead on and take ownership of the Community Engagement strategy, further developing and improving our community engagement approach.

The successful candidate works closely with all departments – including Fundraising, Field Recruitment, Program and Advocacy, Medical Unit and Communications – to identify strategic community engagement opportunities.

You will manage and upskill a pool of inspiring speakers that can raise awareness of the needs of MSF patients, and motivate people to join MSF in taking action to provide medical humanitarian care to those who need it most. You will help share a compelling narrative which inspires support of our social purpose and which represents the diversity of voices in our organisation.
