About the organisation

Organisation Name : NSW Public Policy Institute

With a generous endowment from the NSW Government and matched funding from a group of NSW universities, the Institute was incorporated as an independent organisation in early 2021. Our founders have set up an independent, enduring institute that will transform how governments and universities harness world-leading research capability through collaborative projects to address key public policy challenges.

The purpose of the Institute is to support governments to deliver pragmatic and smart policy solutions, informed by leading academic research, that will have far reaching benefits for the people of NSW and beyond. Through our partnership model, we bring government, universities, industry and communities together to deliver practical and relevant public policy outcomes through a process of codesign, codelivery and collaboration that will harness leading academic research capability.

About the role

Working closely with the Director of Communications and External Engagement and the CEO, this position will develop and deliver an innovative program of communication and external engagement. The focus of the role will be showcasing the work of the Institute to the public through a range of engaging formats and building a program of external engagement to enable a diverse range of voices to contribute to the work of the Institute.

The Institute is looking for a dedicated and highly professional communications and engagement expert with a passion for communicating research findings and policy outcomes. In a small, start-up organisation, this person will be highly adaptable, motivated and systematic and organised in their approach – building smart processes that will establish firm foundations for the Institute. They will have experience of operating in a government, policy, think tank or university context and will have experience in broad range of communications, marketing, brand, media relations and events functions.

If you are passionate about the communication of research and public policy issues and are keen to help build something from the ground up, we would love to hear from you. Sydney CBD office, flexible terms and conditions available and a competitive salary depending on experience.
