The Brisbane Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy is a group of Catholic women founded in Brisbane in 1861. The Sisters draw their inspiration from Catherine McAuley who founded the Sisters of Mercy in Ireland in 1831 and Mother Vincent (Ellen) Whitty who founded the Brisbane Congregation. Currently, the Brisbane Congregation has approximately 102 members and the Sisters continue their work to respond to the needs of those experiencing poverty, disadvantage and exclusion through a commitment to mercy and justice and compassion.

OnTalent is delighted to partner with the Sisters of Mercy Brisbane Congregation, to recruit the newly created position of Community Support Manager which will be located at the Congregation Offices at Nudgee.  Reporting to the General Manager, this position will provide oversight and supervision to all Community Support Services operations and activities and provide leadership, coaching and guidance to a team of professional staff, contractors and volunteers who are responsible for the delivery of services and initiatives that support positive holistic health.

In this role you will ensure the implementation of the Congregation Leadership Team’s initiatives and priorities as they relate to matters of community support and engagement, including social, liturgical, physiological, psychological, spiritual, and day-to-day celebrations of life and living, and the provision of safe living environments for the Sisters.

You will take ownership of the strategy and delivery of the day-to-day operations of Community Support Services including finance and budget, service delivery, risk, compliance and reporting as well as reviewing existing systems, processes and strategies to identify any new opportunities or developments to ensure best practice care.

To be considered for this fulfilling opportunity, we are seeking candidates with the following experience, knowledge and attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and motivate a small yet diverse team to ensure effective service delivery and quality of care
  • An ability to manage multiple and competing priorities, work proactively, as well as respond flexibly and collaboratively in order to deliver agreed outcomes
  • Previous management experience in either the education, aged care, retirement living, community support, or health sectors
  • Experience in balancing financial, operational and mission perspectives when executing responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas and present information with confidence
  • The ability to work with internal and external stakeholders and clients, particularly in the health, education and social justice sectors and in the development and organisation of programs, events and ceremonies
  • Demonstrated integrity, sensitivity to issues of privacy and confidentiality and an ethical approach to decision making
  • A conscientious and reliable team player, not daunted by changing schedules, challenging timeframes or sometimes basic tasks
  • A commitment to Child Safety and adults at risk and the ability to pass and maintain relevant and legislative probity checks including a positive notice Blue Card
  • Ability to work flexibly and after hours and an A-class Queensland Driver’s License
