Carers Victoria is the peak body for unpaid carers. We are passionate about leading change and action to improve the lives of carers by representing and supporting them. We provide education workshops, programs and events across the State, as well as services and advice for carers in the Western Metropolitan region of Melbourne. We are a member-based organisation that aims to ensure caring is a joint responsibility of family, community and government.   

Carers Victoria is going through a period of significant change, as it implements its Strategic Plan 2021-24 and adapts to changes in its funding and operating environments. Savvy and impactful marketing and communications are essential to this, and we are seeking an energetic, adaptable and outcomes focused manager to lead this function.

About the role

  • $109K Annual Salary + Superannuation + Salary Packaging
  • Hybrid Working Model
  • Permanent Part Time Role (0.8FTE)

THE ROLE

This is an interesting role that combines strategic and leadership roles with ‘hands on’ communications work, leading a team of three staff. The Senior Manager – Marketing & Communications is expected to work under limited direction and is responsible for developing and executing the Marketing Communications Strategy in line with Carers Victoria’s Strategic Plan. This includes strategic development of messaging, campaign development, planning and evaluation, digital and visual marketing, media relations and social media. This role is also responsible for the briefing, scoping and content development, as well as collateral development and production.

The role is responsible for leading the marketing communications priorities of the whole organisation, providing expert advice and guidance to support staff in related activities and managing associated organisational processes that ensure key communications and marketing targets and goals can be met.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Leading the strategic Marketing and Communications functions to maximise the organisation’s external influence and impact and support effective internal communications
  • Develop and deliver a strategic communications and marketing plan aligned to Carers Victoria’s priorities across areas including policy and advocacy, events, membership, carer services, sector leadership and business development.
  • Provide monthly and annual reporting to carers and stakeholders.
  • Develop and share digital and visual marketing collateral.
  • Enabling function that represents carer voice through multiple communications channels.
  • Development of strategic marketing capability to drive new funding in alignment with business development.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism or related field.
  • Substantial experience in a business, membership based or Not-for-Profit organisation in a similar role.
  • High level technical specialist knowledge in strategic marketing and communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a successful digital communication strategy.
  • Considerable project management and change management experience, including knowledge of how to bring new programs and products to market.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptability, coupled with the ability to make decisions in a rapidly changing communications environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the media and an ability to advocate and represent the organisation.
