An amazing program, the Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre (BEMAC) is dedicated to presenting, producing and developing culturally and linguistically diverse artists and art forms within QLD. It includes activities funded by Arts Queensland, Australia Council for the Arts and Multicultural Arts Queensland, all in partnership with artists and communities.

Access/Settlement Services International (SSI), are fortunate to manage BEMAC through its Arts and Culture function.

As an organisation we embrace the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Dive rsity of Cultural Expressions ensuring that artists, cultural practitioners and citizens worldwide have the right to cultural practice and preservation. Our purpose is;

  1. To promote and facilitate meaningful participation in and enjoyment of arts and cultural activities by all members of the community
  2. To nurture and promote artists and cultural practitioners from refugee and migrant backgrounds to continue their creative practice and professional development in Australia.

 

Who?

We are seeking a Producer, and encourage applications from the CaLD community, to work 30.4 hours a week over 4 or 5 days. You are an energetic, collaborative individual who has proven experience in Arts & Culture and/or Events Production, with demonstrated experience working with artists, cultural practitioners and communities of CaLD backgrounds. Other experience and skills required include but are not limited to;

  • Successful internal and external stakeholder engagement with strong negotiation skills.
  • A great communicator – written and verbal with a strong ability in creating presentations, report writing and project documentation
  • Proven project and time management skills
  • Has examples of building strong relationships with Artists and the arts community
  • Creative with the ability to approach project and challenges with a “can do” attitude
  • Independent with a sound network within the local arts community
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as arts and cultural practice and/or management; or equivalent demonstrated experience

 

The Role

Main responsibilities include;

  • Project managing events and projects, planning through to successful completion. this will include programming, artist liaison, scheduling, budgeting, ticketing, venue and contractor liaison, risk assessments, logistics, volunteer, community and stakeholder engagement, evaluation and reporting
  • Leading the creation, development, delivery and evaluation of new local, diverse productions and professional development activities
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including local councils, government agencies, private sector, industry and community representatives.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong networks within the arts community. Plus enhancing BEMAC’s reputation and profile as leaders in the intersection of cultural diversity and the arts
  • Supporting all opportunities for business growth and stakeholder engagement, such as undertaking artistic curation and programming services for third parties and artist brokerage.
  • Assist in program budgeting, monitoring and reporting, including recommendations for design and development
  • Assist with fundraising opportunities and grant writing
