About the role

 

 

We are going through an exciting period of growth and as a result, are looking for (an awesome & out-of-the-box thinker) Local Area Coordinator – Information, Linkages and Capacity Building to join our amazing team at Toowoomba!

This position will deliver the NDIS LAC PITC program by working with a broad cross-section of the community from people with disability who have an NDIS plan; families transitioning from the Early Childhood, Early Intervention (ECEI) partner; connecting with specific sectors of the community to support access to the NDIS for hard to reach groups; and link individuals with a disability who are not eligible for or interested in accessing the NDIS to mainstream and community supports, services and activities. 

 

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Increase community knowledge about the NDIS and how to best include individuals with an NDIS plan
  • Work with organisations/community groups to be part of NDIS engagement and awareness activities/events
  • Engage with key stakeholders to support NDIS access for communities and groups of people identified as needing extra support ie. Psychosocial Disability, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Children & Youth in the NDIS, Housing & Homelessness, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and LGBTIQA communities
  • Work with people to understand their NDIS plan and how they can use it
  • Support participants to maximise plan utilisation, initial activation of a plan and access support
  • Facilitation of Capacity Building workshops (face to face and online) in line with identified needs

Do you have?

  • Qualifications in the fields of Human Services, Community Development, Social Sciences, Disability and experience or further qualifications in the area of community development/community engagement?
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking community engagement and capacity building activities
  • Experience in workshop preparation, facilitation and an understanding of adult learning techniques? 
  • The ability to provide excellent customer service and manage complaints through to resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a person-centred approach to service provision and social inclusion?
