About the organisation

Organisation Name : The Human Equation / Disability Advoacy Network Australia

The Disability Advocacy Network Australia (DANA) is the national representative body for a network of advocacy organisations throughout Australia.   Its vision is to provide a collective voice on the value of independent advocacy to support and promote the rights of people living with disability.

At DANA, you will enjoy an inclusive, purpose-driven work environment and a flexible, welcoming culture with policies and systems that proactively promote equal opportunities, respect and equity for all staff.  DANA offers immediate access to tax-reducing salary packaging.

About the role

This is a varied role which will see you work across and support all DANA’s initiatives and projects, including the National Centre for Disability Advocacy.   You will assist with designing and delivering communication strategies, working across multiple channels to promote DANA’s work.

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll update DANA’s content calendar and websites, create and post social media content, coordinate the production of newsletters, support communications for projects and schedule and promote monthly events.  You’ll monitor that all content is current, accurate, accessible and informed by inclusive language guides.  You will also monitor sector and government news and announcements to share with DANA’s key stakeholders.

About you

You are committed to upholding the rights of people with disability, and have expertise and experience working in a communications role, preferably in a for-purpose peak or membership organisation. You bring exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, project and time management, and attention to detail.   With tertiary qualifications (eg communications, journalism or public relations), you have a high digital literacy across a range of platforms and software, an understanding of accessible content and highly-developed written communication skills.  Your interpersonal skills will enable you to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

You can work effectively working in a high-pressure environment, balancing multiple priorities and delivering high quality work.  You are self-motivated with the ability to maintain your productivity working remotely, and you have the flexibility and availability to attendiin-person meetings periodically.

Ideally, you will have an understanding of disability issues and the disability sector but this is not essential.

People with a disability are strongly encouraged to apply. Adjustments are available on request for recruitment and for the successful candidate.
