ABOUT TASTE

Taste Cultural Food Tours is a charity and social enterprise which celebrates a diverse Australia. All profits are invested in training and employment programs for new refugees, migrants and young people. Our tours are designed to build understanding across cultures using food. All our tours are hosted by locals, trained by the Taste program, who are ‘in the know’ and who will show you the best places to eat and shop – those local hidden gems. We support independent family run businesses in locations such as Merrylands, Bankstown, Liverpool and Cabramatta.

Taste Cultural Food Tours Inc. (aka TASTE or Taste Tours) was incorporated in March 2015 and commenced operating tours run by locals in July 2015, continuing the Benevolent Society (TBS) project, Taste Food Tours. In year two (FY16/17), charitable and public benevolent institution status was secured as a training and employment agency supporting people experiencing disadvantage, especially new migrants, refugees, and young people. Since then, the business focus has been on building a self-sustaining organisation through the development of tours and activities for new audiences, including schools, locals, domestic visitors, and international tourists.

TASTE has received Certificates of Excellence from Tripadvisor from 2016-2024 and is currently ranked highly in a number of (Sydney) categories.

The organisation employs 3 part-time head office staff (excluding the GM) and approximately 10 tour guides at any given time. We run 8 different recurring tours and special occasion tours such as the Ramadan night markets in Lakemba. We also support more than 90 local businesses, including restaurants, cafes, bakeries, supermarkets, and clothing/artisan shops.
