2019 Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle Challenge
The Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle Challenge is organised by Bicycle Queensland, a non-profit organisation who pedal the message of getting more people cycling more often. To do this, we run a number of inspirational mass participation events which gets over 20,000 people out riding bikes each year. We also meet regularly with politicians and planners to persuade them to improve cycling facilities in Queensland.
The Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle Challenge will see over 5,000 people pedalling from Brisbane to the Gold Coast on Sunday 15 September and raising vital funds for Mater’s Smiling for Smiddy. With this year being the 15th anniversary of the event, we’re gearing up for the best event yet, providing volunteers with the chance to be part of something very special.
This event takes an enormous effort to organise and simply would not be possible without the generous help of a large team of volunteers. Volunteering for Bicycle Queensland events is all about learning new skills, meeting new people and having fun.
There are a wide variety of volunteer roles available at the start and finish sites as well as along the bike route on event day and even roles in our Bicycle Queensland office and along the event route prior to event day. Roles include, but are not limited to, hosting guests in the corporate marquee, distributing food at rest stops, being a marshal out on the bike route, packing rider envelopes, cheering on the riders, customer service and many more.
