About the role
Camp Footloose is a week-long fun recreation and education camp for children and young people with Arthritis. Campers share experiences in a supportive environment and gain a greater sense of control over their health.
Camp Footloose is being held this year at Broken Bay Sport and Recreation Centre. the 30th September – 4th of October (First week of school holidays).
ANSW is currently seeking volunteer camp leaders to assist in the delivery of the Camp
Camp Volunteer Leaders are required to:
- Support ANSW staff and Broken Bay Sport and Recreation Centre staff in the facilitation of the program’s activities and events.
- Provide supervision of campers in transition periods (i.e. from breakfast to first activity of the day)
- Be responsible for a small ratio of children during the camp event (e.g. knowing where they are during free time)
- Foster positive relationship building and engagement with children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (yr. 9-18)
- Provide encouragement for campers to participate in activities
Volunteer leaders should demonstrate the following qualities
- self-motivated
- good team players and communicator
- comfortable with leadership roles
- comfortable dealing with young adults and children and building rapport
