Time required : ability to attend bi monthly meetings , usually held at around 5pm in the Melbourne CBD and ability to attend 45 Downstairs launches and openings
Duration of project : ongoing during term of appointment during anticipated board renewal

About the role
Our board members will have:
- An ability and the time to engage actively in the development of 45 Downstairs and its programs, to attend board and committee meetings, and the passion to enthuse and engage others in our mission.
- Experience in fundraising or an interest in actively advocating to fundraising bodies or philanthropic organisations for the support of the organisation. Having an existing vibrant network that can be engaged in the activities and projects being undertaken at 45 Downstairs would be an advantage.
- An interest in the growth, development and support of the not-for-profit arts sector is desirable but not essential.
- Connections with the broader political and business community.
- Experience and skills in diverse areas including but not limited to: diversity, fundraising, business, governance, finance, law, visual and performing arts, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
About the organisation
45 Downstairs Inc was established in 2002 with the aim of providing, amongst other purposes, an affordable Melbourne CBD venue for the presentation of the visual and performing arts.
Our premises are located on two lower levels of 45 Flinders Lane Melbourne with a gallery on the lower ground floor and a performing arts space on the basement level.
45 Downstairs is not the recipient of any continuing government support and relies on private and philanthropic donors for its presence and continuity.
