About the role
Basix 4 Blokes is an exciting Men’s Health Promotion charity, in it’s infancy, with a massive future. As such, we are seeking to find a Business Leader who wants to harness the challenge of growing a fledgling organisation.
The main areas of importance and expectations, are for an individual who can assist with creating and implementing a business growth strategy, whilst taking on a leadership role within the Board.
Even in the short time of our operation, we have established some high profile ambassadors and completed some super successful interventions to help men “take ownership” of their own health.
The Mission is simple, but also very unique – “To encourage and empower men to take ownership of their own health”. Clearly, we are a Health Promotion Charity under ACNC, so our activities are more about helping men get motivated to take their health seriously, rather than about specific strategies.
Our Board meets quarterly and is comprised of members who have specific areas of strength/experience that they are called upon to contribute on an ad hoc basis.
A practical contribution that the Chair is expected to make is to assist the Founder with creating an implementable strategic plan to grow the impact of the organisation. As such, a person with a broad and active business network will be highly regarded.
Even if you are reading this and don’t feel the role is for you, but would like to explore how you could help us in our Mission, let’s have a cup of coffee. We are an organisation founded on and growing through relationships.
About the organisation
We are an organisation that keeps our purpose and activities simple.
Our purpose is to "Encourage and empower men to take ownership of their own health"
Our activities are centred around destigmatising men talking about their health with eachother, and exploring how they can discover their personal, compelling reason to become a healthier version of themselves. A foundation belief is that most often, the motivation to improve an individual's health is related to relationship/s. So this is a guiding philosophy that underpins most of what we do. We also believe that men will be more attracted to a program that is activity based rather than "learning" based, so we plan and market accordingly.
This year we are primarily focused on
- Expanding and duplicating our super successful "Kitchen Confidence" men's cooking course, including producing an online version for YouTube
- Rolling out the "Dad's Health Matters" program to dads through school communities (with Simon Madden)
- Implementing the "Don't Bet On It" schools program to deter teenage boys from following the disturbing gambling trend which we are developing in partnership with Deakin University (with David Schwarz)
- Expanding our YouTube videos with male celebrities who have experienced and overcome health challenges (The Yellow Wiggle's has had >10k views to date)
